Michelle Pfeiffer Makes the Vegan Switch!

The number of A-list stars adopting the healthy and compassionate lifestyle just keeps on growing! They include Ozzy Osbourne, Kristin Bell, Russell Brand, Ellen Degeneres and Ben Stiller.

One of the newest celebrities to talk about their new vegan diet is Michelle Pfeiffer.

Pfeiffer, 54, recently opened up to Dr. Sanjay Gupta on CNN about her decision to become a vegan to protect her health.

“My father died from cancer, and the older you get, there’s a lot of disease around you. And you see people struggling with chronic disease. You see people dying with terminal illnesses,” she told Gupta on “Piers Morgan Tonight.”

The Oscar-nominated actress revealed that her decision came about after watching CNN’s “The Last Heart Attack,” which discussed plant-based diets as a solution to preventing chronic diseases. She was inspired by Bill Clinton, who committed to the plant-based diet to reverse dangerous heart problems.  A self-proclaimed “foodie,” Pfeiffer said she was hopeful seeing his example. “Okay, Bill Clinton loves food, so there must be something to [veganism] that’s making him stick to it. And also, he’s smart, so he’s not going to do something unless he really thinks there’s some science behind it.”

She also read Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn’s book, Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease: The Revolutionary, Scientifically Proven, Nutrition-Based Cure.

“I just felt like…there was science behind it. And, you know, it was sort of irrefutable. … I couldn’t not listen to it.”

Pfeiffer’s #2 reason for the new diet? “Vanity is right under there,” she admits, “but I have to say that it’s a close second with wanting to live long.”

Bravo Michelle Pfeiffer, on your most wise and glamorous decision to be vegan!

There are lots of veg starter kits and recipes online for all folks, famous or not.

Two Heartwarming Dog Stories – Pamela Anderson & US Army Sergeant Nick B.

The first of two doggie tales is about Pamela Anderson’s newest addition to her family, a homeless puppy from India she has named Pyari, meaning “Loved One.”

The former “Baywatch” star, who is also a vegetarian and an honorary director for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), couldn’t forget the plight of the stray city dogs she had seen during a recent trip to India. So when she found out that an Indian representative of PETA would be coming to the US, Anderson asked her to bring one with her.

Pyari, who had been rescued from a construction site in Mumbai. His new mom said, ”I’m thrilled to be able to give Pyari a loving home. I already have rescued dogs, and I urge everyone to join me in adopting a homeless dog from their local animal shelter or the streets instead of buying a so-called ‘pedigree’.”

Prior to this, Pamela had helped out in New Orleans to relocate dogs that were given up by families who were affected by the oil spill and could no longer care for them. While there, she was a great example and adopted two of the abandoned dogs.

She had said, “There are so many more pets than homes, but we think that by bringing attention to it, people are going to be inspired to help and adopt some.”

While stationed in Afghanistan, US Army Sergeant Nick B. spotted a skinny Shepherd mix tied up and caked in mud, with ears and tails cut off. Nick asked the local residents if he could take the pitiable dog to care for him.

He found out that the owners were planning to use the canine for grisly “entertainment” purposes. They said they would give him away only in return for cigarettes. Sergeant Nick paid the price asked for immediately, and soon, Bodhi learned to trust his tough, tattooed rescuer, who approached him gently with treats. Eventually, he stole the hearts of Nick’s entire unit.

The rescue of the beloved companion took place in faraway Afghanistan. But Nick made all plans necessary to have Bodhi flown to the US coinciding with the end of his tour. With the help of a group called Puppy Rescue Mission, in May, the two were joyfully reunited at the airport in Pensacola, Florida.

Aww…!! Our touched thanks, Pamela and Nick, for your love in action for the welfare of the helpless canines. Whether near or far, may all innocent animal friends someday live with all the love and dignity they so deserve.

NFL Player Deuce Lutui at His Best After Going Vegan

Deuce Lutui, the Seattle Seahawks guard well-liked for his positive spirit, has surprised the professional football world by confirming he’s a bona fide vegan. All 338 pounds of him – his ideal game weight.

Lutui, age 29, had been struggling with health and weight problems. After failing a physical, he decided to go vegan upon a nutritionist’s recommendation.

His agent Ken Harris told ESPN, “He wanted to commit to himself and to his family that he would do everything to take care of himself and take care of them and be the best player he could be.

Soon after, Harris adds, the veteran offensive lineman who’s signed with the Bengals, Cardinals, and just this week the Seattle Seahawks, “started to see real changes he had not seen previously. Before he knew it, he was slim and trim like a ballerina.”

He then pulled up his shirt as proof: “I can finally see a six-pack there.”

It’s also done him good mentally, he added, in helping him to be disciplined.

Born in Tonga, Lutui admitted that his new lifestyle is “a little different from the Tonga traditional cuisine. But it’s a lot of education, really, that has kind of opened that insight for me.”

His coach, Pete Caroll, told media, “Deuce Lutui, he is a joy to have out here. He looks good. His weight is down – I mean, way down… He’s a vegan, too, now, so he has really made a big turn, if you can imagine, yes.”

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor Join the Vegan Club

There’s a number of reasons that Hollywood actors may choose to be vegan, beauty and glamour likely among them.

For Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor, who both starred in the film Zoolander, the main reason for switching to a plant-based diet was their family’s health. The couple married in 2000 and have two kids, Ella, age 10, and Quinlin, 6.

“It really has changed our energy level,” notes Taylor. “Sometimes you don’t realize it until someone says it to you, like, ‘Your skin looks amazing.”

The healthy mom, 40 and gorgeous, only regrets that they didn’t join the vegan bandwagon sooner.

“We have friends that are vegan and their kids came out vegan,” Taylor said. “I’m so jealous that they had the information and they started the kids early because now to go back, it’s a little harder.”

Taylor explains, “Ben and I make these green drinks in the morning and they look at us like it’s from another planet. I joke, ‘Just join the party! Don’t complain so much, just join us.’”

In addition, Ella loves veggies more than fruit, while younger brother loves his fruits over the veggies.

But while the kids may take a little more convincing, Stiller and Taylor are pretty committed, and confident the little ones too shall grow to love the new and wholesome lifestyle.

“It’s that thing where your parents aren’t cool for a while and then suddenly they are. We just kind of plant the seeds.”

Our admiration and congrats, Christine and Ben, on your latest Hollywood roles as cool vegan parents. May the whole family thrive upon the many joys of the meat-free diet.

Kristen, who’s avoided meat since age 11, decided to say no to all animal products, along with her dashing fiancé Dax Shepard, after learning about the undeniable links between chronic disease and meat/dairy. The 31-year-old actress told “Women’s Health Magazine” that the health benefits are “compounded by the fact that I love animals and feel better not eating them.”

Kristen has a tremendous affection for one particular animal – the adorable sloth. Watch her exude her love on “Ellen.”

Kristin is a bona-fide foodie who compares herself to “a little Italian grandmother.” “Cooking is my love language,” she said, “where there’s the most amount of giving selflessly.” There’s certainly a lot of love bound to come from her cruelty-free kitchen. As she introduced the flourishing members of her organic veggie garden: “There’s cilantro, sage, baby greens. Carrots, broccoli, kale, potatoes, cauliflower. These are strawberries. Romaine, butter lettuce, thyme… Ooh, the spinach is coming up real nice.” She explained that the organic tomatoes are eaten all the time “like potato chips” owing to their intense sweet-n-juiciness.

Cheers! To your health, Bell and beau, and a wonderful vegan life ahead together! ❤

Carrie Underwood – A “Good Girl’s” Vegan Diet

English: Carrie Underwood at the 45th Annual A...

With five Grammys, multi-platinum records, American Idol winner-turned-country music superstar Carrie Underwood has accomplished a lifetime’s worth of treasures in just a handful of years. The radiant 28-year-old began singing in her childhood growing up in rural Oklahoma. She also stopped eating red meat as a young teen because of her love for the animals. “I grew up on a farm,” she said. “Once I learned why we had a farm, that was that.”

She has always been veg-leaning, and put her compassion into practice through rescuing stray animals.

Then, in 2011, Carrie became a vegan for health reasons. She found out that she was lactose intolerant, or unable to digest animal-derived milk – as are a majority of us/as are 60% of us adults, according to one study.

In a recent interview with Ecorazzi.com, the gifted and hard-working singer/songwriter/actress talked about the effort she puts in to stay fit amidst her busy schedule, which shows no sign of slowing down!

“I do my best to eat healthy and work out. I am a vegan, so that certainly helps. It’s hard to be vegan and not stay pretty lean.”

The health-conscious Carrie loves her snacks, saying, “I eat almonds, apples, dried fruit (with no added sugar … [I] don’t understand why they add sugar to fruit), raw fruit and nut bars, maybe a few squares of super dark chocolate, and veggies and hummus… I am such a label reader and always take my food with me everywhere.”

Carrie added that most of the time, it’s hard for her to find quick and nutritious food to eat in her busy life. Her solution?

“I always make my own food ahead of time and take it with me. That way, I know exactly what’s in it and I can still stay healthy and satisfied when I’m working.”

With such a wholesome lifestyle, it’ll be no surprise to see this vegan star soar ever higher in success for many more years to come, especially with her fantastic new single out called “Good Girl”.

We wish Carrie a very happy birthday!

Happy Birthday, Giorgia Fumanti!

Fumanti in January 2008 in Vancouver, Canada.

She’s got the voice of an angel, dreamy blue eyes, and a allure of tenderness about her. All of which make Italian soprano Giorgia Fumanti unforgettable once you see – or hear – her!

From a young soloist in the church choir in Aulla, an 800-year-old spiritual gathering place located in romantic Tuscany, she studied voice at Italy’s esteemed Conservatorio di Musica Arrigo Boito. (That was after she was a law student and yoga instructor!) She was soon catapulted to international stardom, reaching the top of charts Billboard’s Top 20 classical crossover chart – and #1 in Japan and South Africa!

Her powerful voice has filled vast Olympic stadiums. Unafraid to sing versatile material ranging from Puccini to Sting to Sarah MacLachlan, Giorgia says to her, singing is like a prayer for peace, hope, and love.

It’s no surprise, then, that Giorgia is an animal lover, who has adopted the vegetarian diet. On several occasions, she’s performed at Supreme Master TV events, singing the beautiful songs by Oscar & Emmy-winning composer Bill Conti and Grammy winner Bill Cunliffe, based on poetry by Supreme Master Ching Hai. At these events, Giorgia had the opportunity to taste the food that we catered. Loving the meat-free creations, she made a stop by One Veg World when she was in town, along with her adorable daughter.
